EFRAG is tasked to simplify the ESRSs

The European Commission (EC) tasked the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board (SRB) with simplifying the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRSs) following the publication of the first ‘omnibus’ package aimed at simplifying EU rules, boosting competitiveness, and unlocking additional investment capacity.
The EC plans to adopt a delegated act to revise and simplify the ESRSs, considering EFRAG’s technical advice, which is expected by 31 October 2025.
Key points in the revision include reducing mandatory datapoints, clarifying provisions and materiality instructions, simplifying the standards' structure and presentation, and enhancing interoperability with global sustainability reporting standards.
