Vice-Chair of the ISSB delivers a speech at the World Standard-setters Conference

Sue Lloyd, Vice-Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), delivered a speech at the World Standard-setters Conference in London on 23 September 2024. She discussed the success of the IASB's IFRS Accounting Standards and the ambition for the ISSB's sustainability disclosure standards to achieve similar widespread adoption. Sue Lloyd also addressed the importance of investor-focused information, the need for proportional and cost-effective sustainability reporting, and the support from developing and emerging economies for the ISSB's work. She highlighted the IOSCO endorsement of the ISSB standards in July 2023, which led to over 25 jurisdictions advancing towards adopting ISSB Standards, including developing and emerging economies. Lloyd emphasised that ISSB standards focus on communicating risks to investors and that it will remain market-driven and policy-neutral.
